Compliments

As a general rule, if you try to compliment me I will try to wiggle out of it, probably by making a joke (if you really corner me, I’ll go beet red and stare at my feet). I know I have to work on that, yaddy yaddah. What I find a little strange however is when I get a series of comments on my Flickr pictures, from a stranger without any profile or pictures for me to see, calling me a “beautiful girl”. Setting aside the girl/woman linguistic issue here, I have to say I’m still puzzled. Oh, I’ve told people they were beautiful before out of the blue (albeit not complete strangers…), but this is somewhat creepy, no? (Not creepy as in “I must react now or be doomed forever”, but still…) I’m also somewhat frazzled by people who favorite one of my pictures and who turn out to only have a few pictures on their own page, but all of their penis. Because apparently I needed to see it (morbid curiosity, of course, pushed me to keep looking…). I guess when you’re a magnet for people who live in somewhat different realities, it carries over to the online world. So for future reference, even though compliments make me squirm, I’d rather have them than a picture of your wiener.

That sentence made me laugh out loud. I scared the cat!
