weekend whilrwind

This past weekend, Herb was working and The Kid and I went to the country, kindly invited by friends to go meet their family and enjoy the sights and woods, river, pool, barbecued delicacies, cabin in the woods, dog, cats…! I can happily report that I got sun without burning, that even though The Kid didn’t get much sleep he was kind and cute and happy, that basically there was nothing wrong with that weekend whatsoever, and then some. I needed to get out of the city soooo bad. I needed to rest my arms, which have been bugging me for a while and scaring me as well. I needed to be at home with large farm dogs and tiny barn kittens, walking through fields and taking pictures like a maniac. Phew! :-)

Herb is very happy with his new job, and it sounds like the kind of work environment most people can only dream of. My mom is gone on vacation. The Kid is finishing fourth grade this week. All is well. Well, perhaps that’s a bit much, but from a few feet away of you don’t scratch the surface everything is a-ok and sometimes that’s how I have to look at things. No point in scratching a fresh scab or an old scar, most of the time. I’m glad to be back with my kitty babies, glad to be pink but not red, glad to have rested even though being social is another form of energy-consuming task for me — it drains and recharges at the same time. Glad to have been somewhere else, seeing different things, meeting awesome people. Now, back to it all. Busy doesn’t even start to describe it.
