Here Are Some News

Ouir dogsitting bout is over, as our best friends came back from their European trip (lucky them). The cats seem a little relieved, even though they don’t much show that Meckpup bothers them any when she’s around. Meckboy and Meckgirl got home to find they were the unwitting adoptive parents of a Meckbat, but luckily for them, the bat found the way out. Herb just may have some great news to share very soon. He’s doing well, walking without a cane or anything. He gets tired quickly though, compared to what his stamina used to be. Muscle loss is only to be expected after an immobilizing surgery, I guess. The school year is almost over. In a few days they’ll even stop pretending to teach and learn, on account of how it’s June, dude or somesuch. I have accumulated a sleep debt and the sandman is out for revenge. I can run, but I’m getting slower. Last week I caught myself swearing this was going to be my last summer in Montreal — and then I stopped in my tracks. I could hear a faint voice — mine from last summer — uttering the same words. Damn! When I work the cats make a fort around me with their bodies. Half the time I can’t get to papers I need because a cat is lying on them. The other half of the time it’s my office chair that is taken hostage and I have to use the crappy one or face the Princesswrath. Plans are being weaved around the summer and I already know it will zoom by, leaving me facing my birthday out of breath and bewildered at how fast life is going, wishing I could find the hand break. Nothing is ever perfect, but these days I am leaking joy. And the secret is that this bandit needs to use her creativity or she withers. Why she forgets that repeatedly is beyond me (not really, and I can explain it: lack of fuel. And sometimes sugar in the tank.)
