May I Say That I Rule?

Because I do. I’ve been volunteering with AIDS Community Care Montreal and with 1000 Peace Women (both links in the side bar, under, well, links!). And I rule. I love both organizations, and it is always a pleasure to translate for them, so I’m always very quick and efficient, and they can’t believe it (what they don’t realize is how fun and interesting their stuff is!). I like that. I like doing things just because I want to, I like helping out (a.k.a doing my part), and I LOVE having satisfied clients. And since these particular clients don’t pay with money, they pay with their gratitude, and what do you know, it brings quite a degree of satisfaction. Not that I could do without paying clients, of course, and those are often very thankful as well, which is just (very yummy) icing on the cake. I love my work, period, but I also want to point out that volunteer work is extremely rewarding as well, in many ways. Everyone should volunteer somewhere, of course, but it can be particularly good for freelancers. Good networking, good contacts, great people, extremely good references. Really: you should try it. (You should also not have unprotected sex, but I’ll leave that for another post, along with my own opinions on condoms - I think they may be the #1 reason behind my complete devotion to monogamy.)
